Coin errors are made in the mint by accident. When they turn up for sale, they sell very quickly.
These 2009 double struck two dollars on offer feature a doubling of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and Aboriginal Elder on reverse.
This occurs when a coin is struck and it fails to clear the coining chamber completely before the next strike occurs.
Only a very small number of similar 2008 and 2009 examples exist, indicating that there was probably an intermittent fault with the press used during that production run.
