The 1996 'Basler Stab' privy mark kookaburra in flight $1 silver coin was struck by the Perth Mint to commemorate the Basel Coin Convention held in January, 1996. The coin carries a privy mark representing the 'Basler Stab', the emblem of the city of Basel in Switzerland. Of the 2,500 coins struck, only 500 were reserved for Australian collectors.
The coin was housed encapsulated in a black leatherette, hinged-lid presentation case and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
